Worker’s Compensation Benefits

WHAT MEDICAL BENEFITS ARE PROVIDED?

Any medical treatment provided by a licensed health care provider is covered under the Workers Compensation Act, as long as it is reasonable, necessary and related to the injury. This includes almost any treatment one would normally need, such as surgery, physical therapy, medication, chiropractic care or cosmetic surgery. Assistive devices such as crutches, prosthetics, hearing aids or glasses are covered if injury related. Modifications to an automobile or to a home are even covered, if necessary, such as in a case where an individual becomes wheelchair bound.

WHAT WAGE LOSS BENEFITS ARE PROVIDED?

Wage loss benefits are payable for either partial or total disability. You are considered totally disabled if you cannot perform your regular job due to an injury, and no work within your abilities is available. You are considered partially disabled if you have restrictions from an injury that are causing you to earn less than you did prior to the injury. You are generally paid 2/3 of any wage loss due to the injury, although there is a maximum that changes each year, and higher percentages are paid to persons with low earnings.
